“In our collaborative vision, by 2025, EastPoint will be a vibrant, mixed-income community, rich in diversity and opportunity, catalyzing progress throughout the Eastside of San Antonio,” EastPoint Director Mike Etienne told City Council on Wednesday.
"It just so happens that all the efforts right now seem to be focusing on the East Side," said Tony Leverett, Eastside Promise Neighborhood director. "So we are sort of carrying the torch for what we hope what San Antonio will be, for better schools, better housing and better job opportunities."
“In our collaborative vision, EastPoint by 2025 will be a vibrant, mixed-income community, rich in diversity and opportunity,” said Mike Etienne, a city employee who is director of EastPoint. “But for this effort to be sustainable, we have to engage the community.”
A new policy was recently implemented that would require regional organizations to commit to spending 40 percent of their grant money within the zone and national organizations to commit to spending 20 percent within the East Side.
